Lately, we’ve been sharing lots of details about how easily you can host your own Yoga Teacher Training and thought it might be time you hear more about the experience directly from a lead trainer.
We recently spoke with Mandy, owner of Salty Dog Yoga and Surf in North Carolina to ask how her students are responding to the Ambassador curriculum and what she’s done to make the training her own!
We were inspired by her beautiful class closing mantra that she found herself relating to when hesitation crept in.
Mandy shares that her yoga teacher role changed in 2020, tired from wearing even more hats due to the quick online shift during the pandemic stating, ‘offering this training reinspired my love for yoga’.
As a yoga school owner, Mandy has complete control over her YTT schedule and chose to teach the 200-hour program over the course of a year.
She’s learning and teaching as she goes and it’s working out great for her and her students. Taking breaks between modules has allowed everyone to deeply absorb and integrate the heavy philosophical concepts into their daily life and practice.
Mandy uses her insights combined with the lineage the manuals are written in to create what she calls a yoga buffet. This tapestry of yoga styles woven together is appreciated as it gives her the freedom to bring her experience into the lesson plans and offer her community a safe space for deep inner work.
Admitting it would have taken her years to write such in-depth manuals, Mandy’s perspective is that you don’t need to recreate the wheel to offer something great on your own terms to your own students.
