Oh my goodness! We just found an exciting update on the Yoga Alliance website that creates a huge opportunity for experienced yoga teachers.
Watch the Video to Know What it is!
For as long as I can remember, Yoga Alliance would only allow graduates from a Registered Yoga School the Registered Yoga Teacher designation.
This meant that some highly qualified yoga teachers who obtained their training and certification from non-registered yoga schools were not permitted to be part of the most recognized international organization that sets the standards for our industry.
More so, these teachers could never qualify for E-RYT (Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher) status to move into the role of lead trainer in their own registered yoga school.
This has been problematic for so many great yoga teachers who took their training with a non-registered school prior to Yoga Alliance’s foundation in 1997, or shortly thereafter because the value of an RYS had not yet been realized.
More Options for Yoga Trainers
Well, yoga teachers, you now have more options through the Experienced Yoga Teacher Pathway which may make it possible to be the lead trainer in your own RYS even if you did not originally train with an RYS.
Do these recent changes affect your professional designation?
Find out how the requirements of the Experienced Yoga Teacher Pathway differ from the requirements of an RYS graduate and if this pathway offers you the opportunity to get the E-RYT 500 designation which will be required for RYS 200 lead trainers by 2024.
Do you meet the experienced yoga teacher pathway criteria?
It seems that each case will be reviewed individually by Yoga Alliance credentialing specialists, so we created an overview of the qualifying details including the documents you’d be required to submit with your application.
E-RYT 500 approval could take as little as 4 weeks. Wouldn’t it be great to advance your career with this professional designation and be the lead trainer in your own yoga school?
